Photographing our work in different environments was a good exercise as we could see how it looked in different lighting and positions. Also against different background and how it stood out, even though our work was made out of paper or card you could still really see how the piece would fit and gave you and idea on how it would look if it was made out of other materials.

On the last day of fashion, we had to incorporate our designs we created in previous exercises into this final piece of work, we had to focus on a certain area of the body and create a piece that would fit well around that area, my design was a piece of clothing that sat over your clothes and that would rest on your shoulders. I wanted it to look quite higher fashion so i used straight clean cut lines but also keeping to my reflective andsymmetrical  style, i also included a my small designs i had created previously in the week.

After working with a range of other peoples we were then allowed to work with our own designs with no limitations.

In this task we were not allowed to work with our own desings to start off with, we had to roatate around other students work and focus on a specific area or description such as the nevk area or making somthing that was more loud than elegant, working with other peoples work was a good exercise as it allowed us to use a range of desings insted of the ones we had been working with previousley, we were also a lot less carefully with other peoples as we went straight in with the task with fresh ideas.

Fashion

Our fast task in fashion was to create five small textured designs that would later on be used to create a much larger peice of work. We had to make the designs interesting but at the same time keep it quite simple as we had to make twenty lager versions, my most successfull design was almost two designs as i was focused on the idea of reflection and symertry, this made it a lot harder to create larger designs but in the end looked and worked well. I also didnt want them to be 2D and flat so i layerd different sections, this improved the asthetics of the design massivley as it wasnt just a flat peice of paper.

Lens based media: short story board

For this brief we had to create our own 6 frame story board, within this story board there had to be a problem and them problem being solved to retain the equalibrium, it was challenging fitting it into a small amount of frames but it got you thinking about how important the structure is and what frames to include and what frames to exclude.

Lens based media

Our first task in lens based media was to get some random character ideas down for our story board we was going to create, after this as a team we chose one stand out character that we had to build a short 6 frame story out of, this was just to get us into the thought processes of the story board and get us thinking about the structure of the story.

Graphics: poster for suture exhibition in 2033

We had to create a poster about our exibition that will happen in 2033, mine was about my fashion show peices shown in the V&A, for the poster i wanted it to be in a rugged contempory style, i also wanted it to be less abour me as a person and more about my work thats why i decided to cover my face and leave my clothing clearly viewable.

Graphics: creating and developing typography

We started off by trying to find letters out of shapes we created with different mediums and techniques, for example dropping the pin on the page or putting a pen in a cup and letting it rol around the page, we the found letters with in the shapes, we chose our favorite technique and used it to create a full alphabet, this experiment was to make our us think about new forms of typograhy and allow us to ignore normal forms we see everyday.

Graphics: ear drawings

Graphics

Our brief for the challenge was to draw peoples faces but by using different ways of doing so, for example we had to use our left hand, put the pen in our mouth, one blind folded and one continous line.

3D Design: structure created out of spaghetti that could hold three plastic balls

Our brief was to create a structure out of dry spaghetti that could hold three plastic balls without them touching each other, as the spaghetti was very brittle with little bend it was also very prone to breaking, i found that using a number of strips together reinforced my design and made it stronger, i also used my knowledge from previous tasks and continued to use the  triangular and x shapes to create a strong successful structure that supported three plastic balls that did not make contact.

3D design: building a stable bridge.

We had to create a stable bridge that would support a remote control car as it drove over it, also it had to be tall enough to fit a table underneath it. This time we had to work as a group so we soon came up with many ideas, we decided that X and triangle shapes were the strongest so we focused on using many of them for the structure.

3D Design: Creating products out of random shapes or forms.

3D Design

Our second challenge of the day was to create another structure that could support ourselves, so it had to be on a bigger scale and hold a lot more weight, our medium was cardboard so it was quite strong and easy to manipulate, with my knowledge from the previous exercise i simply repeated my techniques for a successful outcome.

3D design paper structure

Our challenge was too create a structure strong enough to support a full water bottle but could be no bigger than 20cm high, i incorporated tubes and triangular forms as i knew they were strong shapes, i was successful in this part of our challenge as it managed to with stand the weight of the water bottle.
